Why do I still get up when
I know it’s the same old day again?
Maybe this time something’s changed?
The coffee’s still the same and
I know all the people here
I’ll die of boredom now I fear

When is it coming down?
When will it hit the ground?
Light up this whole damn town?

A brisk walk to the river
Might be just the thing to clear my mind
Before this funk gets settled in
Just me, my thoughts, and pen and
A view to inspire
But I close my eyes and all I see is fire.

Who from time to time still call on me

I now know the how and why
But not the hour we’ll meet our fate
So I just go out onto the roof and wait
